Street Legal Mini Chopper
There are a lot of people advertising on the Internet, saying that they are selling street legal mini choppers. But what is a mini chopper? And what does it mean when they say street legal mini chopper?
Mini choppers are like those choppers you see on television, washed several times until they have shrunk to a size that would fit a 12-year-old. They are built at around 50cc to 110cc. they can be are also powered by either a gas-based engines or an electric-based engines (like lawnmowers and ATVs).
Electric-based motors, obviously, do not require gas. All you need to do is to recharge the motor. They are relatively slower than their gas counterparts and deemed to be much safer. They can go at different speeds as well. Gas-based engines are faster than the electric-based engine-powered mini choppers. They usually have manual transmission that gives you a wider variety of speeds that you can go at.
Mini choppers can go for up to 15 miles per hour. They can also support weights at a maximum of 300 pounds. However, they are intended for use of a single person only. Also, they can take you for 10 miles before the battery dies or the gas runs out. That’s more than enough to make a quick trip to the store and make a few visits to friends. You’d probably still have some power left when you get home.
But one thing that you have to remember is that there are only a few states that really allow mini choppers to be used on public roads. Most states would keep these off highways. But if in case, you live in a state where they allow mini choppers in public roads, make sure that you have a street legal mini chopper. This means your bike should have a head light, break light, a horn and rear view mirrors. It also has to be able to run not lower than the minimum speed limit.
In most states, if the bike is over 125cc, it would be classified as a motorcycle and would then require you to have a motorcycle driving license to take your bike for a stroll. You also need to register your bike to get a license plate and have it insured as well. You can check with your local government on laws concerning the use of mini choppers.
