Today, more and more people are looking at those custom-built motorcycles. You probably have heard of the Orange County Choppers. They have certainly made a name for themselves with their sleek and unique designs. There is a scaled-down version of these choppers. And they are aptly called minichoppers. They have the same look and style but only made into a size that fits a child. But don’t be fooled. This is not only for child’s play. This is also fit for those with a heart of a child.

A minichopper is powered with the same motor that powers an ATV. It allows a fixed gear ratio which then in turn, allows the rider a lower or higher speed ratio. Some minichoppers would have small motorcycle engines, giving you a feel of the real thing. It is also an option to get a minichopper with a CVT or continuously variable transmission. It is something like automatic transmission for the ride. And it allows the gear to switch depending on the speed of the minichopper.

These babies often use bicycle rims. Sometimes, they use moped rims. They give an authentic look with a larger wheel in front. The rear tires are often pneumatic tires. The rear tires us either a live or a dead axle. A live axle is the most commonly used type of axle on minichoppers. It is called such since the axle spins along with the wheel, the sprocket and other pieces that are attached to the axle. The dead axle or the hub and bearings are less commonly used. This axle does not spin. The wheel would have built-in bearings that allow it to turn or spin.

Of course, choppers are custom-built motorcycles. And therefore, if there are no custom parts, then the purpose is defeated. Some manufacturers sell custom parts for minichoppers. They have customized gas tanks. They may also come up with a new frame design for you. It’s all about your style and your choice. And surely you will be the envy of every child and child at heart when you take this mean machine for a ride.
